Quilted Summer Day and Night QAL
Can I just say I loved quilting this quilt?! I can not believe how easy the three stitch zig-sag made quilting this. My husband prefers a loftier quilt...he would prefer I just tie all my quilts... he loves that fluffy cozy feeling. I on the other hand like a finished look to my quilt and I know that quilted quilts tend to hold up a little better and in my opinion just look nicer. This was the perfect compromise. It is a loose quilting pattern and still has a clean finished look to it. I recommend this to anyone who is quilting a quilt on their home machine! Now I just have to bind it and I can cross it off my list of works in progress!

Finally Finishing...Summer Day and Night QAL (Only a Month Late...)
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I know I did! I did some garage saling yesterday and had lunch with my parents. Then today my husband and I went to the apple orchards. We were back by noon and he had to get some sleep and I spent the remainder of my day sewing and listening to an audio book. A while back I had been posting about this quilt along. I wasn't very excited about block nine... and I put it off forever... until yesterday when I decided that I was just going to make a 16 inch scrappy block instead of the block they provided. Now I am on a mission to finish this quilt! I promise better pics then!
I am quilting this one on my Janome. I am using a walking foot and a wide three stitch zig-sag. So far I am loving the way it looks and it is going pretty quickly.

Crispy Cheddar Chicken! and Summer Day and Night QAL Block 7
Hello everyone! I just had the best few days. I went to Door County, WI with a friend, my mom, and my sister. It was a blast. It was a long drive but it was worth it. We went to a drive-in movie, a light house, the beach, and lots of shops. Of course there are things I am forgetting, but it was fun. If you are from Wisconsin you probably already know about Door County if you are not from Door County do a google image search and you will see it is just gorgeous.
My husband stayed home with the dogs and I ended up leaving a night earlier than planned for the trip. Meaning I hadn't had time to cook anything for my husband to reheat. He pretty much ate out for the last three days. When I asked him what he wanted for supper this morning he told me, "Real food and something green!" I agreed completely. We were camping so we had quite a bit of convenience type foods and not much for vegetables. I was also craving some veggies. I had chicken breasts in the fridge so I decided to use that up. He had asked me to make the crumb chicken I used to make for him when he would come over in high school. I use to make that chicken nearly weekly for my family. It was good....but this is better!
I based my recipe on this link http://jamiecooksitup.net/2011/10/crispy-cheddar-chicken/. I did use some different spices to give it more flavor. I only made four servings. I dipped the chicken in milk, then in shredded cheese. I only needed a cup of cheese. Then in the cracker crumbs. I only needed half a sleeve of crackers. I seasoned the cracker crumbs with seasoning salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and a dash of chili powder. I didn't measure what I put in, but it was very little chili powder and seasoning salt. More pepper and garlic powder. I was a little skeptical of the cheese, but it turned out great. The chicken stayed very moist and the cheese added a lot of flavor! It was delicious. I highly recommend trying this recipe!
I also was able to finish my week 7 block for the QAL before leaving on our trip. I am hoping to get week 8 done sometime this weekend. I am also going to make valances for one of the teachers I work with. So, I plan on spending some time in my sewing room.

Summer Day and Night QAL Block 6
This weeks tutorial had a few mistakes in it....nothing that I couldn't or that you probably couldn't figure out. I think if you read through the whole post before cutting you will catch the ones I missed to begin with. I let her know so I am hoping they will get fixed. All in all this is a gorgeous block! Can you imagine a whole quilt of these? Could down size it to 6" and 12" and use some of the layouts in Vintage Farm Girl!!!

Summer Day and Night QAL Block 5

Today I have two pictures to share for the quilt along. The top is my week 5 block...I didn't have enough white so I created a secondary pattern in grey. The second is just a quick shot of all my QAL blocks together. I am still loving this! To join in go to http://www.sandraclemons.blogspot.com/p/tutorials.html?m=1

Summer Day and Night QAL Block 3 and Other Random Stuff
Hello everyone! No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth...just off the face of blog land. I have had a busy few days and have done some sewing but mostly have been doing other things.
On Friday I spur of the moment decided I should probably have a garage sale on Saturday. So, that took up Friday and Saturday. Then yesterday we invited my husbands family over for a cookout for Father's Day and ended up going boating. That was...an adventure. We may or may not have ran out of gas, turns out the gas gauge is NOT very accurate. But the views were gorgeous.
Today I decided to rearrange our bedroom. Moving a king size bed by yourself is a bit of a struggle to say the least...my dogs tried to help.

Okay. Back to what is really important...sewing! Today I made block 3 in the quilt along. I have a picture of the block and a picture of it along with the previous two blocks. I am considering making these blocks into throw pillows for our sectional, but I will probably make the quilt. It was just an idea.

Summer Day and Night Quilt Sampler
Last night I came across something wonderful! A quilt along that just started. It made my night. I immediately got out of bed and made the first quilt block in the quilt along.
The quilt along is on Sandra Clemons's blog. You can click HERE to be taken to the blog post. I would love to see some of you participate. I will be posting my block each week for you to see. I am using a fat eighth bundle I purchased as well as fabrics from my scrap bin and stash.
The best thing about quilt alongs is that it feels like Christmas each time the new block is posted! It is going to be Christmas for the next nine weeks! Then again...maybe that's just me.
